September 2026
Dear Eleanor Roosevelt Families,
Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! Whether your family is returning to Eleanor Roosevelt Elementary School or joining our community for the first time, we are delighted to welcome you. We hope your summer has included time to relax, recharge, and enjoy meaningful moments together.
Our staff has been busy preparing classrooms, organizing materials, and developing thoughtful plans for the year ahead. We are committed to providing every child with a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment where they can grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Building Community and Supporting Students
This year, we will continue expanding our use of Responsive Classroom practices across all grade levels. Morning Meeting will remain an important part of each school day, giving students an opportunity to strengthen relationships, build community, and begin their learning with a positive sense of purpose.
Students will also continue to have Quiet Time following lunch or recess. This calm, consistent transition helps students regulate, refocus, and prepare for afternoon learning.
Our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program will continue to reinforce the respectful, responsible, and safe behaviors we value throughout our school. Students can look forward to earning Golden Tickets and Golden Spoons and being recognized as Golden Students. These celebrations help us acknowledge the many ways our students contribute positively to the ER community.
Staffing Updates
We are pleased to welcome back Mrs. Megan Abriola as our Assistant Principal. We are grateful to have Mrs. Abriola supporting ER on Tuesdays and Wednesdays while continuing in her role as Supervisor of Reading English Language Arts on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
Please join us in welcoming several staff members to new roles within our school community:
- Mrs. Sarah Dyson joins us as our school counselor after serving the Quarry Hill and Edgewood Elementary School communities.
- Mrs. Deborah Cattani will continue as a reading specialist and will partner with Mrs. Alisa Myles, who is returning to her role as a reading specialist after completing her sabbatical.
- Mrs. Kimberly Gauvreau and Mrs. Jessa Kliesh have joined our elementary special education team.
- Mrs. Samantha Gursky has transitioned to a new special education role and will serve kindergarten and first-grade students as a learning support teacher.
- Ms. Heiseler is now Mrs. Nohr and Ms. Folger is now Mrs. Busch. They both were married recently, and we are so happy for them.
- Mrs. Monica Chuong joins us as our vocal music teacher, bringing more than 18 years of experience from Charles Boehm Middle School.
We also extend our appreciation and best wishes to Mrs. Scaran as she transitions to Afton Elementary School.
Important Back-to-School Dates
Kindergarten Orientation and our Grades 1-5 Open House will take place on Monday, August 31, 2026.
Incoming kindergarten families will receive a separate orientation letter on Monday, August 10th. Kindergarten Orientation will be held on the morning of August 31, 2026.
Our optional Open House for students in grades 1-5 will be held from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on the afternoon of August 31st. Students will have an opportunity to meet their teachers, visit their classrooms, and become more comfortable and excited about the year ahead. Please note that kindergarten teachers will not be available during the Grades 1-5 Open House.
The first day of school for all students is Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
School Hours and Student Safety
Our school day begins at 9:00 a.m., and student arrival begins at 8:40 a.m. For safety reasons, students may not be dropped off before 8:40 a.m., as supervision is not available before that time.
Students arriving after 9:00 a.m. must be accompanied into the main office and signed in by an adult. This requires the adult to park and enter the building.
Dismissal takes place between 3:30 and 3:40 p.m. Although we understand that emergencies occasionally arise, the school cannot provide ongoing supervision before 8:40 a.m. or after 3:40 p.m. Families needing care outside the regular school day are strongly encouraged to use KidsCare of Pennsbury.
Homeroom Assignments and Transportation
Homeroom teacher assignments and transportation information will be released by the District through the PowerSchool parent portal (My Power Hub) on Thursday, August 20, 2026. We are unable to provide placement information before the official release date.
Additional Information
We know the beginning of a new school year often brings questions. To help families prepare, we have gathered important dates, links, schedules, arrival and dismissal procedures, and other helpful resources in ER’s Important Information Document. Please use this document as your primary back-to-school reference throughout the opening weeks of school.
Thank you for the trust, partnership, and support you provide to our school. We are honored to work alongside you and look forward to a year filled with meaningful learning, strong relationships, and joyful memories.
We cannot wait to welcome our students back to Eleanor Roosevelt!
Warmly,
Lisa Follman, Principal
Megan Abriola, Assistant Principal
